Maritime Montering Secures First Contract with Ulstein’s Shipyard – Strengthening Norway’s Maritime Cluster Collaboration
Maritime Montering has been awarded the contract for interior and accommodation work on a large DP3 cable-laying vessel for Nexans, marking its first collaboration with Ulstein Verft. This milestone project underscores the company’s growing reputation in the ship accommodation sector and the strength of the Norwegian maritime cluster cooperation.
The contract was awarded after an extensive tendering process, where Maritime Montering’s proven track record for quality and timely delivery played a decisive role. The company will provide turnkey ship interiors and accommodation to ensure optimal comfort for the vessel’s 90-member crew.
The vessel, Nexans Electra, designed by Skipsteknisk and constructed by Ulstein Verft for Nexans Marine Operations AS, is specifically engineered for the transport and installation of subsea cables, including cable bundles, as well as for cable recovery and repair. The Nexans Electra measures 149.9 meters in length, 31 meters in beam, has a deadweight of 17,000 tons, and can accommodate up to 90 people.
Under the slogan “Electrifying the Future,” this innovative vessel will support global electrification efforts, providing critical connections between regions, offshore renewable energy solutions, and electrification for other offshore installations.
“We are proud to begin this collaboration with the shipyard Ulstein Verft and bring our years of accommodation expertise to this outstanding vessel. The Nexans Electra has been designed and engineered to perform effectively even in challenging weather conditions, and we will ensure the crew can carry out their sea mission in the highest standard of living and working conditions by focusing on every interior detail for their comfort,” said Bjørn Terje Norevik, Technical Sales Manager of Maritime Montering Norway.
This project underscores the strength of the Norwegian maritime cluster, showcasing the seamless collaboration between Norwegian designers, engineers, shipyards, and shipowners.
The vessel delivery is expected in 2026.
