Norwegian shipyard Båtbygg has announced the construction of a new longliner for Austral Fisheries Ltd., one of Australia’s largest integrated commercial fishing companies. To ensure the new vessel sails with the highest comfort, Båtbygg has appointed Maritime Montering Norway for its interior and accommodation outfitting.

The signed contract focuses on designing 1100 m² of interior space and managing 4000 m² of technical areas. In addition to interior outfitting, Maritime Montering will be responsible for cladding the factory premises, cargo holds, and other technical areas. The project is scheduled for completion in 2025.

The Austral Odyssey, designed by Marin Teknikk,  is 68.5 meters long and 14.6 meters wide. The vessel will accommodate a 33-person crew and have a loading capacity of 700 tons and will engage in deep-sea fishing for toothfish in the waters north of Antarctica. It will be the largest and most advanced of its kind, featuring state-of-the-art functions to optimize effective and sustainable fishing, while ensuring comfort and safety onboard.
